Roland JX-8P Megapack! 192 new patches by Espen Kraft

Get my new Roland JX-8P Megapack Patch Bank now — a premium collection of 192 original patches for any 8P compatible hardware or software. Works in the TAL-J-8X and PG-8X as well. 6 banks; Bass, Bells, Pads, Strings, Brass and Pianos with 32 patches in each.

For convenience, each category includes two full-bank SysEx files in addition to the individual patches.

The EDIT_BUFFER_ONLY file is the safer option and is mainly intended for auditioning or librarian use, since it sends the patches as temporary edit-buffer data and does not deliberately overwrite the JX-8P’s internal memory. 

The WRITES_TO_USER_1-32 file is the one to use if you want to load the entire 32-patch category bank directly into the JX-8P’s user memory. This will write the sounds into user slots 1–32, so make sure to back up your existing patches before sending it. * These two SysEx files will also work in the software emulations. 

The original JX-8P has a reputation for SysEx being buggy when transferring SysEx patches, so some synths might struggle with bulk loading full banks. If that fails just use the individual SysEx as usual.

Due to differences between hardware and software, revisions and models (yes, they will work for the MKS-70 and JX-10 as well) the patches might sound a little bit different on each platform. This is for "better" or "worse".

Many of the patches have also been made for my own music and as such they require some tuning, filter adjustments or other edits to suit YOUR taste. In the demo video I use some Valhalla VintageVerb on selected patches.
